The School For Promoters is a holistic training program that recruits participants from the same communities where trained promoters then work to change civic awareness and participation, promoting social organization and transformation.
The program is directed at men and women who may or may not be members of organized community work groups and who show interest in developing their communities. They must be over 18 and know how to read and write.
The curriculum consists of five thematic modules: Human Development, Community Development, Community Organization and Participation, Project Preparation, and Civic Education.
Training programs last 8-10 months and have taken place in the municipalities of Cajeme, Navojoa, Etchojoa and Huatabampo. Attendees participate in theoretically- and practice-oriented activities with the aim of involving their fellow community members, as well.
Training ends with presentations of Community Impact project proposals. Approved proposals are implemented with the support of community committees and are monitored to completion. To present, 240 people have enrolled in our training, 55 of whom now work as promoters in their communities. In this way, they fulfill the vision for the program, which is to promote development by training members of the same communities where we work. |
